Ethereum scaling network Arbitrum set for major upgrade on Aug. 31

Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Arbitrum is set to undergo one of its most significant upgrades on Wednesday. The “Nitro” upgrade will take effect on Aug. 31 at 10:30 AM Eastern Time. It will increase transaction throughput, slash transaction fees and simplify cross-chain communication between Arbitrum and ETH. The upgrade will be the most significant in the world, with Arbitrum One network being the most notable network deployed by the firm Offchain Labs, which also updated its ArbOS (Arbitrum Operating System) component.

'Most of crypto is still junk' and lacks use case — JPMorgan blockchain head

Umar Farooq, head of JPMorgan’s digital assets unit, said most of the crypto assets on the market are “junk” and that real crypto use cases are yet to fully present themselves. He said regulation is yet to catch up to the burgeoning industry which is holding back traditional financial (TradFi) institutions from getting involved. Instead, he suggested crypto, blockchain, and the broader Web3 movement is primarily providing a vehicle for wild speculation at this stage. JPMorgan has become relatively crypto-friendly over the past couple of years.
